( LETTER TO THE COMMUNITY )
Goodbye, Big Apple.
Hello, Orlando!
After a decade in the city that never sleeps, the world’s leading Android developer conference is packing its bags and heading south. droidcon NYC, a fixture in the global Android community since 2014, will relocate to Orlando, Florida in 2026.
What began with our friends at Touchlab bringing the first droidcon to New York has grown into one of the most technical, community-driven Android events in the world. Over the years, Kevin Galligan and the Touchlab team helped shape Droidcon NYC into a platform for groundbreaking ideas, collaboration, and innovation.
New York has been an incredible home. But to keep droidcon accessible, inclusive, and future-focused, it’s time to evolve. Orlando gives us the space –literally and figuratively – to grow the mobile community in bold new ways.
Rising costs in New York have made it increasingly difficult for attendees, partners, and international speakers to join in person. The move to Orlando enables droidcon to reduce ticket prices, expand accessibility for developers across North and South America, and create a more inclusive event experience, all while maintaining quality.
Orlando also brings new possibilities: more space for networking and exhibits, easier travel options, and a family-friendly destination (hello Disney!) that invites attendees to combine professional growth with personal downtime.
Looking ahead, the 2026 Orlando edition will set the stage for droidcon’s next evolution — uniting Android, Flutter, React Native, iOS, and gaming developers under one roof in 2027. This new multi-platform format will build on the upcoming next.app devcon (Berlin, October 2026), where the next generation of mobile developer collaboration begins.
To the thousands who joined, spoke, sponsored, and supported droidcon in New York — thank you for a decade of creativity and connection. You helped shape something truly special.
The next chapter starts now. See you in Orlando.
