Development workflows have changed dramatically over the past year with the rapid adoption of agentic AI. As engineers increasingly rely on AI-driven tools to generate code, accelerate iteration, and parallelize tasks, build systems are beginning to experience new forms of pressure. Android builds are no exception. In this talk, we will explore the emerging performance challenges that come with this shift, from increased contention for machine resources to growing pressure on CI environments as build activity scales in both volume and complexity. We will examine how these changes affect build performance, stability, and developer feedback loops, and discuss how engineering teams can adapt their build infrastructure for this new reality.
